General Practice in Arran

Working on Arran demands generalist skills. As a GP, you could quite literally be seeing a patient with diabetes one minute, and attending a road accident or applying a plaster cast the next. The island is rich in learning opportunities, and we’re keen to make this available for those who are studying or training – both in nursing and medicine.

At Lamlash we enjoy having local school pupils, students, trainees, rural fellows work with us – they bring fresh ideas and enthusiasm into the practice, and teaching is a natural role of being a doctor or nurse. We are grateful to our patients for their understanding that teaching sometimes makes appointments a bit longer, but often a bit more fun and interesting too.
