Patient Participation Group

Patient User Service Group

Arran Medical Group has set up a Patient User Service Group (PSUG) to help tailor primary health care to the changing needs of Arran’s public.  We are keen to discuss the changes we have made and also new ones that we are planning. We are also very keen to get feedback from patients on what they think of the services they receive from their practice.

The three surgeries on Arran merged in September 2012 and have been working hard behind the scenes to deliver on the changes recommended in the recent Clinical Review of medical services on the island.

Dr David Hogg, of Arran Medical Group, said: “Arran presents unique challenges and opportunities to configure a modern primary care service.  We are lucky to have a supportive community who have already been involved in some of the changes to service provision.  We want to cultivate the involvement that patients have in the development of the practice”.

If you are interested in joining or would like more information please contact Fiona Horbury or Ruth Betley on 01770 600 516.

How does it work?

A Patient User Service Group is a patient-led group linked to the Practice. The aim is for the group to reflect the diversity of the population of Arran.  Members of the group are reimbursed for travel expenses.

Ruth Betley, Arran Services Manager, explains: “The group works with GPs and practice staff to provide a patient perspective on the healthcare services that are offered to the community.  We are hoping to have a group that reflects a wide range of age, gender and villages”.

Including our younger patients

As well as our PSUG group below, we have also been developing links with the Arran Youth Foundations, and taking guidance from their leader Graeme Johnston on how to work with some of our younger patients.  We are hoping that in the new school term this will see the creation of an AYF video tour of staff and services at Arran Medical Group – watch this space!

If you are interested in joining or would like more information please contact Fiona Horbury or Ruth Betley on 01770 600 516.

Getting Your View

The group would like to contact patients on occasion by email and/or text so that they can obtain the views of the widest group of patients possible. We would like to obtain your email address and mobile phone number to do this. Please complete the Patient Contact Form to provide your consent for this.
